Summary of Position

The Department of Anesthesia is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to work in a fast-paced clinical research environment at both the Bayview Campus and Holland Orthopaedic and Arthritic Centre. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting ongoing research projects and work closely with the Research Manager, the anesthesia research team and Principal Investigators to assist with all aspects of study operations.

Summary of Duties:

  • Conduct assigned research tasks.
  • Interact with a variety of patients: OB, trauma, cardiac, orthopaedic.
  • Assist with patient screening, recruitment and consent.
  • Prepare study documents, data collection forms, and database development.
  • Perform study outcome assessments (in person and follow-up phone calls), handle necessary paperwork, data abstraction and data entry.
  • Organize blood sample collection.
  • Maintain research databases and perform audits to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Assist in the development of guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain ongoing professional communication with staff (doctors, fellows, residents, and coworkers) in order to help maintain comprehensive patient care.
  • Protect and maintain participant confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist in preparation of study reports and summarize findings.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires the successful minimum completion of a minimum of a BSc diploma in a health-related field. MSc degree is an asset.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience, in clinical research preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ICH guidelines and Good Clinical Practice an asset.
  • Demonstrated accurate and efficient work habits with close attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong working capability of MS Office and ability to quickly adapt to new online systems and applications (REDCap database, document portals, etc.).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is an asset.
