As part of a major digital and clinical transformation, Sunnybrook is launching Project REACH, a multi-year initiative to implement a new health information system (HIS) across all campuses and satellite sites. Project REACH is rooted in clinical transformation and care redesign. Led by the Clinical Informatics Team, the project aims to enhance patient care, improve clinical workflows, and better support our care teams.

Overview:

The Network Analyst will support the planning, deployment, and optimization of a large-scale Cloud-based Hospital Information System (HIS) implementation. This role will play a critical role in ensuring the security, scalability and high availability of the network infrastructure that support this mission-critical healthcare system.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, monitor, and maintain secure and scalable network infrastructure to support the Cloud HIS environment.
  • Collaborate with vendor experts and the cybersecurity team to integrate network services with cloud based HIS applications.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, and load balancers across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Implement network policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance
  • Support integration with third-party systems, medical devices, and remote access configurations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and changes.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for the network layer.
  • Troubleshoot network issues impacting HIS functionality, escalating where needed.
  • Participate in HIS readiness testing, go-live support, and post-implementation stabilization.

Education and Training:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Cisco, Palo Alto, Cloud or other relevant networking certifications an asset (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).

Experience:

  • 3+ years in network administration/analysis, preferably in healthcare or large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting cloud based HIS implementation

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, and security best practices.
  • Proficient in configuring and managing cloud networks
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, etc.).
  • Experience with network security, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust architecture.
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy, security standards (e.g., PHIPA) is an asset.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in high-pressure clinical settings.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and clinical teams.
