Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Clinical Informatics Pharmacist to join our dynamic pharmacy informatics team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of medication safety and technology within pharmacy services. As we prepare for the implementation of a new Health Information System (HIS), we are focused on driving innovation, enhancing workflows, and improving patient outcomes through integrated informatics solutions.

 

Position Summary:

The Clinical Informatics Pharmacists lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of pharmacy-related information systems. The role will focus on integrating medication records to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors, this individual will ensure that pharmacy systems meet clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is a teaching hospital and it is the expectation that all staff teach or support teaching in a variety of ways.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of pharmacy informatics systems.
  • Optimize workflows and support the safe integration of medication use processes.
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical teams, and vendors to align system functionality with best practices and standards.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of pharmacy informatics initiatives, including future HIS implementation.
  • Support data analytics and clinical decision support activities where applicable.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.ScPhm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) is required.
  • Education in Health/Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred; a Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience is required.
  • Registration in Part A of the Ontario College of Pharmacists is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated leadership in change management within healthcare settings.
  • Experience in mentorship and resident education is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, clinical informatics, and database systems is required and experience working with Codonics, Cerner, Worx, BD Pharmacy Keeper, BD Pyxis and knowledge portal, automated packaging systems from and informatics perspective or other similar pharmacy systems is an asset.
  • Experience with AI or data analytics is  desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
