Summary of Duties:
We have an opportunity for a Genetic Counsellor to join the Cancer Genetics and High Risk Program in a casual position. The Genetic Counsellor is a health professional who participates in a regional program to identify families at risk for hereditary forms of breast, ovarian, melanoma, colorectal, and other gastrointestinal cancers. Functioning with a high degree of autonomy, the Genetic Counsellor works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical counselling services to individuals and families, support navigation of the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) for Women at High Risk, assist with research studies, and provide educational services.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Master’s of Science in Human Genetics or Genetic Counselling.
- Board certified or board eligible with Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) Certified.
- Experience in cancer genetic counselling and up-to-date knowledge of the field of cancer genetics.
- Experience in working with the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) for Women at High Risk.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrates excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates facility with use of computers, including database and spreadsheet software and experience with Progeny software an asset.
