Summary of Duties:

 

The pharmacist duties can be broadly divided into the areas below:

1.               Formulation, technical checking of Sterile and Non-Sterile Medication Compounding

2.               Care for TPN patients in conjunction with other health professionals

3.                 Clinical Trial responsibilities dispensing Investigational Products

4.               Technical and administrative responsibilities

 

Responsibilities include TPN Physician/Dietician order review and clarification; entry of TPN orders into the TPN Order entry system; drug compounding and dispensing and/or supervision of such tasks by pharmacy technicians; answering of drug related questions; formulating and preparation of new requests for compounds; participation in the education of students and multidisciplinary staff.  Training of Pharmacy staff. Other pharmacist duties included are participation in hospital and departmental committees, and other duties as assigned. Supervision of clinical trial compounding, including final checks, formulating and completing associated records.

 

In addition to having proven clinical and technical skills, the successful candidate must have the skills and ability to work well within a team environment.   Since Pharmacy Manufacturing is the main production facility of our acute care IV additive program, the successful candidate will serve as a departmental resource for sterile procedures, being knowledgeable in applicable NAPRA and USP standards and drug stability. 

 

Primary responsibility will be weekday coverage.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

•                Current licensure (Part A) by the Ontario College of Pharmacists

•                Advanced problem solving skills, self-motivated, takes initiative

•                Excellent communication skills, inter-personal skills and teamwork ability

•                Well organized, time management, prioritization skills, customer service skills

•                Competent with MS office, including Word,  Excel and PowerPoint and Outlook

•                Knowledge of Abacus TPN software and Rx Compounder software an asset

•                 Completion of CITI, N2, TCPS 2 Core research training programs as asset
