Summary of Duties:

  • Apply principles of Occupational Health Nursing
  • Work in compliance of the CNO standards
  • Provide primary nursing care, first aid and emergency treatment
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Coordinate and administer immunization programs
  • Provide employee counseling and health education
  • Provide medical monitoring and medical surveillance programs
  • Conduct health reviews and worksite assessments
  • Receives, reviews and interprets medical documentation and based on this review approves or denies sick leave benefits
  • Liaises with Infection Prevention & Control/Management of Outbreaks
  • Report outbreaks to TPH and WSIB, as required
  • Follow up on incidents
  • Follow up on Blood/Body Fluid Exposures.
  • Maintain statistical data and provide routine reports for outbreak cases and management
  • Work as part of a multi disciplinary team

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Current Ontario Registration, current BCLS Certificate
  • Completion of approved Occupational Health Nursing Certificate Course.
  • Occupational Health experience in a hospital environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control OHS related issues
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, WSIB and LTD processes and procedures and all applicable occupational health & safety legislation and standards and Human rights act.
  • Advanced Nursing Assessment skills
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in the use of Parklane System
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good investigation skills for WSIB injuries
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving ability
  • Able to self-manage own individual work load.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork and co-operation, Flexibility, Analytical Thinking, Professionalism, commitment, reliability and integrity
  • Good attendance and performance record
