Summary of Duties:

Working with the professional team, the Patient Service Partner participates in the caring of patients by providing a variety of support services to the team and patients; participates as a member of the team in a manner that reflects the Hospital philosophy and mission of service; and promotes and maintains good public relations with patients, visitors and Hospital staff. The environment is busy and high-paced and can be stressful. The PSP will be responsible for:

• Assisting with lifting, frequent transferring of patients

• Assisting with patient care including positioning, transfers, delivering meal trays

• Delivering patient information, equipment and supplies

• Restocking supplies, moving equipment, i.e. tables, positioning devices etc

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum Grade 11 or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario Ministry of Education

  • PSW Certificate or completed the Sunnybrook PSP (formerly PSA) course required

  • Infection Prevention and Control Certificate required

  • Ability to read and write English

  • Two (2) years of related health care experience

  • Recent related health care experience, preferably in an Obstetrical/Post-Partum setting

  • Previous Birthing unit experience an asset

  • Recent PSP experience required

  • Must be accustomed to high patient acuity

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to handle various tasks within a limited time frame

  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team;

  • Previous experience an asset.
