Salary Range: $38.810-$54.770/hr

Summary of Duties

Responsible for providing Occupational Therapy in an inpatient rehabilitation unit to adults and older adults with complex care needs and low tolerance post inpatient admission. Conducts assessments of occupational performance and provides individualized therapy as part of a rehab team toward patient’s rehab goal achievement within 5-6 weeks. 

 

The OT will apply expertise in assessment of daily living skills, including functional cognition and mobility, to progress patients’ skills and ability to return home. The OT assigns components of OT service to OTA&PTAs, and collaborates with patients, families and team members for discharge and transition planning.

 

In support of Sunnybrook’s full affiliation with the University of Toronto, participates in teaching occupational therapy students on an ongoing basis including acting as a preceptor for fieldwork placements; supervision of one or two student placements annually is expected.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  1. Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario required
  2. Membership in CAOT or OSOT
  3. Experience in inpatient rehab setting
  4. Ability to work to full scope, including physical and cognitive assessment
  5. ADP Authorizer status for mobility aids preferred
  6. Experience in integrated care, working with system partners in transition planning and demonstrate understanding of community resources to support community living
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  9. Ability to assist in research, program evaluation and support unit initiatives
  10. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
  11. Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  12. Strong skills in time-management and organization, professionalism and conflict resolution
  13. Commitment to clinical excellence and use of Best Practices
  14. Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred Care approach and principles
  15. Ability to demonstrate reflective practice
