Maintenance Mechanic - Plant Operations & Maintenance
Summary of Duties
- Carry out repairs to pumps, motors, fans, and a variety of other mechanical equipment throughout the Hospital as assigned.
- Carry out fire protection system preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Repair patient beds and wheelchairs as required.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on mechanical and electronic devices throughout the Hospital as assigned.
- Prepare and layout own material.
- Demonstrated good ability to solve problems and work on own initiative.
- Inspect, repair, replace and adjust components for entrance and exit doors including closers, electric strikes, magnetic hold opens, keys and locksets.
- Carry out other mechanic duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
- Minimum Secondary School completion plus completion of Trade and Apprenticeship program required
- Must have current valid Province of Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Millwright
- Current provincial certification in welding is preferred
- Recent related experience as a mechanic essential, ideally in a hospital/healthcare setting
- Experience & training by a recognized locksmithing facility preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to read mechanical blueprints and a basic understanding of electrical principles required.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to perform welding and electrical repairs required.
- Maintenance experience essential
- Demonstrated customer service focus and proven verbal and written communication
