Salary Range: $45.910/hour - $58.914/hour

Summary of Duties

The Ross Tilley Burn Centre (RTBC) social worker provides a full range of social work services to patients and their families admitted to RTBC or seen in the outpatient burn clinic. This includes, but is not restricted to, psycho-social assessments, counselling support to patients and families, discharge planning, trauma informed crisis intervention, linkage to community resources, team consultation.

The social worker is also expected to participate in team and program meetings, including daily bedside rounds and the Burn Steering Committee. The social worker also collaborates and maintains ongoing communication with St. John’s Rehab to ensure continuity of patient care.

 

Qualifications/Skills

Masters of Social Work Degree Required

Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in Good Standing

Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a Hospital setting.

Experience in Trauma with a focus on counselling techniques specific to this population such as psychotherapy modalities, crisis intervention and/or strategies to support coping with disfigurement, loss of function or bereavement.

Ability to apply trauma informed approaches through an understanding of neurobiological effects of trauma and the social factors that have experienced violence, self-harm or neglect.

Exceptional communication skills required

Knowledge of the HCCA and SDM act

In-depth understanding of the Sunnybrook Policies that impact transitional planning

Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Demonstrated skills in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice & Education

Ability to balance collaborative practice with self-direction

Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment

Commitment to student education

Experience and commitment to quality improvement initiatives

Demonstrated knowledge of organizational priorities and social work scope of practice priorities
