Position Summary

With over 40 affiliated schools and nearly 5,000 learners rotating through annually, you will be part of a dynamic, high-performing Education Centre team that includes a leading-edge Simulation Centre, a comprehensive Health Professions Library, a vibrant Student Centre, and the Sunnybrook Hub for Applied Research in Education (SHARE). Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a strategic and innovative Manager, Education Transformation & Interprofessional Integration to lead and advance education priorities across interprofessional, health professions, and academic portfolios. This role drives the implementation of Sunnybrook’s Invent 2030 Strategy and Education Roadmap, fostering innovation, collaboration, and patient- and family-centered learning. The Manager oversees interprofessional education initiatives, strengthens partnerships with academic, industry, and community stakeholders, and supports the Nursing Education, ensuring high-quality learning experiences that prepare the future health workforce.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Education Leadership and Transformation:
- Plan, integrate, and oversee educational initiatives aligned with operational and strategic goals.
- Build strong networks with learners, teachers, and stakeholders across Sunnybrook and academic partners.
- Implement and monitor strategic initiatives, metrics, and outcomes for education priorities.
- Integrate innovation, research, and new models of care into education programs.
- Design and develop initiatives while harnessing emerging technology to create innovative educational offerings supporting learners at their point of need.
2. Education Partnerships and External Relations:
- Develop and maintain partnerships with academic institutions, industry, philanthropic groups, and community organizations.
- Collaborate with TAHSN and other community partners to foster interprofessional education initiatives.
- Represent Sunnybrook on interprofessional and external committees to advance shared education goals.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements and manage affiliation agreements.
- Liaise with Sunnybrook Foundation to support donor engagement and education initiatives.
3. Interprofessional Education Oversight:
- Lead Sunnybrook’s Interprofessional Collaboration Strategy and framework.
- Oversee educator development workshops, curriculum design, and alignment of interprofessional competencies with organizational initiatives.
- Co-chair the IPE Committee and lead interprofessional events.
4. Staff and Educator Development:
- Contribute to orientation, professional development, and continuing education programs for staff and learners.
- Support scholarship, faculty development, and quality assurance in education delivery.
- Collaborate with Student Services to enhance student experience, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
5. Education Team and Program Operations Management:
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation for education portfolios.
- Manage human resources, including recruitment, mentorship, performance evaluation, and staff development.
- Design and deliver key education events and initiatives.
- Maintain accurate data and reporting for strategic decision-making.
6. Patient, Family & Community Engagement in Education:
- Integrate patients and families into education initiatives and program planning.
- Partner with community and outpatient teams to enhance community-based education.
- Utilize data and technology to evaluate and improve patient education impact.
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree required; education-related graduate degree considered an asset.
- Familiarity with educational methodologies, learning theories, and best practices.
- 4–5 years of relevant experience required; 6–9 years considered an asset.
- RN or Health Professions Certification required; advanced education expertise an asset.
Knowledge & Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills within large academic hospitals.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, time management and organizational abilities.
- Project management experience considered an asset.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office, particularly Excel and Access); project management software experience considered an asset.
- Demonstrated credibility and an interpersonal style that is welcoming, collaborative, and inclusive.
- Excellent project execution and data management skills, inclusive of KPIs.
