The department is equipped with 13 linear accelerators, a gamma knife, MR-Brachytherapy suite, MR-Linac, Orthovoltage and 3 MR simulators. The centre offers advanced clinical and research programs in IMRT, IGRT, SRS and SBRT, and has a medical physics department comprising of over 30 staff. The academic radiation oncology cancer program at SHSC is one of North America’s largest.

The candidate is expected to develop an active radiation oncology practice in treating genitourinary cancers as their dominant site of practice, and the second site of clinical practice will be based on need by the Chief of Department; however, a second focus on breast or lymphoma cancers will be an asset. The candidate will have radiation oncology training and appropriate additional fellowship training in genitourinary oncology (ongoing or completed). A clinical and research track record in prostate SBRT, Kidney SBRT and adaptive radiotherapy will be an asset.

The successful candidate will have protected academic time and is expected to develop and conduct an active academic research program complementary to ongoing work in radiation biology, radiation physics, imaging or technology research, or clinical epidemiology. More specifically, the candidate is expected to be able to contribute to a research program in adaptive radiotherapy with both MR-Linac technology and CT-based linac technology. Should the candidate wish to pursue a clinician teacher/educator role with a path towards an academic role in education, that would also be desirable. The candidate is also expected to participate fully in the teaching programs of the Department.

The successful applicant must also be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario and an academic appointment in the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Toronto. They should be eligible for appointment at the Sunnybrook Research Institute in either the Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Evaluative Clinical Sciences platforms as a clinician investigator.
