Summary of Duties

The main functions of the clinical coordinator includes, but are not limited to:

  • Supports the philosophy of Person-Centred Care as well as the principles, mission and values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
  • Coordinate staff education related to cardiac devices, paceart system and remote monitoring
  • Supports the ongoing learning needs of new learners and experienced staff
  • Liaise with referring physicians and program coordinators to schedule device implants in the cath lab
  • Complete the clinic schedule to ensure the arrhythmia clinic and cath lab is staffed appropriately
  • Coordinate the care of patients in the arrhythmia clinic (i.e. triage patient visit)
  • Pre- and post-operative assessment of patients undergoing arrhythmia device implants, intra-operative support during ICD, pacemaker, and ILR implants, device interrogation and programming of in and out patients in clinic setting
  • Management of scheduled and unscheduled remote transmissions
  • Inventory management of clinic supplies

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certificate
  • Current ACLS certification an asset
  • Critical Care or Coronary Care experience preferred
  • Previous experience with cardiac arrhythmia management and associated devices preferred
  • Previous Cath Lab experience preferred
  • Previous patient/staff education experience preferred
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators
  • Demonstrate commitment to continued education
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing and stressful environment in a positive manner
  • Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; priority setting skills; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution & time management
  • Commitment to the quality care of our patients, evidence based practice and a clear understanding of professional standards
  • Ability to integrate and apply critical thinking skills to patient care within scope of practice
