Summary of Duties

The Physiotherapist (in collaboration with the interprofessional team) is responsible for providing person centred patient assessments and interventions, including recommendations for follow-up as required. The physiotherapist is accountable for supervision and the delegation of appropriate treatment to the OTA/PTA on the unit. The physiotherapist actively participates in inter-professional team activities such as team meetings, clinical rounds, team huddles and quality improvement initiatives. Participates in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that fosters ongoing learning, professionalism, interprofessional collaborations, and best practices in physiotherapy for acute care patients. Participation in the supervision and education of physiotherapy students on an ongoing basis. Is an expert resource for; staff, students, and other health care providers related to physiotherapy. Participates in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy Services. Practices in accordance with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario standards of practice.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • MSc[PT] or equivalent

  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario

  • Rostered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for Tracheal Suctioning and Administering a Substance by Inhalation

  • One to two years of general acute care physiotherapy experience preferred

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
