The Biological Sciences Platform (BSP) at the Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto, Ontario, has an opening for a summer student.
Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) is one of the world’s premier academic medical research centres, renowned for our work in medical imaging, biology, and clinical evaluative sciences. As part of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, SRI is dedicated to advancing health care through pioneering research and partnerships that translate scientific discoveries into clinical practice.
SRI offers a Summer Student Research Program that provides undergraduate students with a unique hospital-based research experience and showcases the postgraduate environment as a prospective career. The successful candidate will operate under the supervision of a designated scientist on a research or development project. Responsibilities may include a range of tasks, with opportunities to work in different on-site environments, enhance technical and analytical competencies, and improve scientific communication skills. The program, which runs from May to late August, features regular seminars whereby leading faculty talk about their research. In August, students present their work at the Summer Student Poster Competition.
These positions are open to undergraduates in health sciences, biomedical engineering, life sciences or related disciplines in a recognized Canadian university program. The SRI Summer Studentship Award recognizes students with a high academic standing and have demonstrated interest in the field of research and sciences as a possible future career. More information can be found on the SRI Summer Student Page (under Funding).
