There are three permanent full time opportunities for an Operations Manager for the Wallaceburg Central Ambulance Communications Centre for Pre-Hospital Care.

Summary of Duties:
The successful candidate will plan, manage, and coordinate day-to-day operations of a Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC). As part of the Management Team you will provide effective leadership to ensure efficient and sustainable use of human and material resources, establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders and achieve operational/program goals and plans while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, policies and standard operating practices. You will recruit, schedule, monitor and evaluate Ambulance Communications Supervisors and Ambulance Communications Officers, and assist the Manager with the operation and maintenance of an effective and responsive land ambulance dispatch and Fire Communications Centre. You will provide program support to the CACC Manager (and act for the CACC Manager during absences), in order to ensure the operation and maintenance of an effective, cost-efficient, quality land ambulance/fire dispatch and emergency health communication service. This position works in an inherently stressful 24/7 environment and requires occasional travel within Ontario.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Management/Supervisory experience that includes stewardship responsibilities and inspired leadership supplemented by the following demonstrated competencies: human resource management, decision-making, analysis/evaluation and interpersonal/communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Windows-based computer applications
- Knowledge of Ontario’s emergency health services system
- An understanding of the principals and methods used in quality assurance, continuous quality improvement (CQI), policy development, and trend analysis, to identify operational deficiencies and opportunities for improvement
- Investigative skills to examine and resolve complaints or enquires
- Knowledge of human resource policies, directives and guidelines, and Collective Agreements to assist in managing a bargaining unit environment
- Oral communication and stakeholder relationship building skills to deal tactfully and persuasively with senior municipal, provincial, and federal government officials, hospital administrators, directors of nursing area, land and air ambulance operators and citizens
- Interpersonal skills to cultivate stakeholder relationships, to solicit assistance or resolve contentious issues while mitigating stakeholder sensitivities in matters ranging from routine to emergency or disaster situations
- Knowledge of the CACCs computer aided dispatch (CAD) equipment, radio/telephone systems, and audio logging equipment to call take and dispatch land ambulance services
- Change management skills to support the transitional environment to support Ontario's emergency health care services system, and to assess impact and facilitate the implementation of changing technology within a computer aided dispatch environment
- Thorough knowledge of up-to-date first aid and casualty care procedures
- Ability to function as an Ambulance Communications Officer (ACO)
- Valid Class “G” driver’s license
- Baccalaureate degree or college diploma preferred
