Payroll Services at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is a team of 10 providing full service payroll to over 9,000 Hospital staff. This position will report to the Payroll Manager.

 

Summary of Duties:

  • Accurate and timely administration of payroll functions for unionized and non-union staff

  • Import templates, reconcile data entry to payroll totals, review and correct timecard errors

  • Process employee terminations - ensuring all related transactions are completed accordingly

  • Complete ROE forms using HRDC WebROE

  • Prepare requisitions to disburse funds to financial institutions

  • Update payroll records for employees returning from leave

  • Collaborating with teams to obtain and process data accurately

  • Calculate and recovering overpayments as appropriate

  • Administration of garnishments process

  • Responding to payroll related queries from staff and management including:

  • Assisting staff in navigating Employee Self Service options

  • Provide support in deciphering pay statements

  • Assist with production of off cycle payrolls

  • Assist with compliance with organizational, union, and legislative requirements

  • Respond to queries from government agencies

  • Provide timely support to HRDC investigations

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualification & Skills:

  • More than 2 years' Payroll experience and knowledge of payroll systems required

  • Completed a post-secondary program (minimum 3 year program) required

  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification preferred

  • Demonstrate interpretive, analytical thinking

  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to interpret payroll legislation

  • Intermediate working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines
