We are looking for someone ready for new and exciting challenges, to provide leadership and support to the Brain Medicine Fellowship Program, working in a fast-paced environment where a new phenotype of clinician is being created. Ideally, you are eager to work cooperatively with our key stakeholders in support of our mission, increase efficiencies, solving problems and keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field.
Brain Medicine Fellowship Experience
The Azrieli Brain Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Toronto is designed to address complex brain disorders with an interdisciplinary lens. The program provides successful trainees with integrated, cross-disciplinary skills to approach clinical and research questions related to complex brain diseases. Azrieli Brain Medicine Fellows will focus on the assessment and treatment of impaired affect, behaviour, and cognition (ABC) in complex brain disorders.
Beyond the unique focus in Fellowship training, the Project Manager will oversee the various components that contribute to a world class and unique program. These components include:
- The operation of a weekly Brain Medicine Clinic and the assignment of fellows to educational opportunities that will both challenge and enrich their experience. This role will evolve along with the Brain Medicine Clinic itself and may entail some new staff reporting requirements
- the ongoing support and maintenance of a research database and opportunities for Fellows to take a leadership role in research,
- Secretariat support to an established and evolving committee structure that oversees and operationalizes the mission and vision of the Program, and is the focal point for annual reporting to a variety of stakeholders
- Demonstrating leadership in the area of Brain Medicine by hosting an annual conference
- Educational innovation ranging from relevant and unique clinical experiences to relationships and opportunities with world class experts and supervisors
- Oversight of Program requirements that position Brain Medicine as a leader in its field, extending and expanding national and international bridges
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Support
- Lead the ongoing planning, development, and execution of the Brain Medicine Program.
- Participate in the implementation, support, and evaluation of strategic projects.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the educational landscape to develop program plans.
- Organize and facilitate communication and meetings with key stakeholders.

- Plan and execute educational events, conferences, workshops, scientific meetings, and professor visits.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality project support for all programs and partners.
- Compose, edit, and update high-level correspondence, reports, proposals, and policy statements.
Administrative Functions
- Organize educational programming to ensure quality educational experiences.
- Develop and lead project implementation criteria to evaluate administrative processes.
- Employ technology to improve operational efficiency and develop project templates, tools, and databases.
- Provide support for working groups and committees, including preparing reference materials and developing responses.
- Resolve technical problems and issues promptly to ensure minimal delays.
- Monitor progress toward achieving goals.
- Develop organizational standards for emerging international education opportunities.
- Capture key program milestones and accomplishments in reports to program leadership and philanthropic interests.
New Program and Business Development
- Support the planning of new ventures and extensions to existing initiatives.
- Manage and revise all website content in collaboration with stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in business or health administration, or related management experience in a regulated health care field, or equivalent.
- Multi-year experience or certification in a project management field is an asset.
Experience:
- 5-10 years in a Program Management role with practical experience.
- Proven experience in project and program planning, management, and implementation.
- Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously while producing high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
- Initiative, good judgment, and the ability to multi-task.
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements.
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of applicable legislative and departmental policies.
- Client service-oriented, with the ability to work effectively with diverse opinions, backgrounds, and characteristics.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Sensitivity to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
Skills, Experience, and Passion
- Program/Project Management: Current experience in a clinical area, preferably in brain disease, with multi-site program experience and complex partnerships both locally and abroad.
- Leadership: Proven record in creating respectful, positive, and productive relationships with stakeholders, from trainees to senior scientists and support staff, including philanthropic and academic partners.
- Contract Negotiation and Financial Management: Experience in drafting annual program budgets, monitoring agreements, and contributing to novel and workable contracts.
- Documentation and Procedures: Ability to establish formal procedures, policies, and guidelines to ensure continuity, standardization, and best practices.
- Complex Scientific Initiatives: Accountability for the implementation and execution of a multimillion-dollar research program, engaging stakeholders, and supporting grant opportunities.
- Research Experience: Academic background in building and supporting a research strategy and program.
