The Sunnybrook Research Institute and the laboratory of Dr. Charles Cunningham has an opening for a full-time, postdoctoral research fellow. The position will be available for a 1-year contract with the possibility for renewal. The successful candidate will take the lead on projects to develop new data acquisition and reconstruction methods for hyperpolarized 13C imaging in cardiac and brain applications. Experience with pulse sequence programming on GE systems, multinuclear spectroscopy/imaging and advanced reconstruction methods are assets.

Summary of Duties:
- Publish a minimum of one first-author paper per year on hyperpolarized 13C imaging in humans
- Take the lead on human 13C imaging experiments in the brain and heart, including oversight of the 13C scan prescription, timing and execution of the scans and the analysis/archiving of data.
- Quality Control (QC) and maintenance of the systems involved in the 13C imaging projects, including the RF coil systems and the MR scanner itself.
- Assist supervisor in preparation of manuscripts, grant applications, ethics applications and educational materials as needed
In addition, the individual is expected to:
Work within the larger context of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and observe Hospital and department rules and regulations, policies, procedures, practices, safety procedures and current legislation, in particular the Human Rights Code regarding discrimination and harassment. Qualifications:
- PhD in hyperpolarized 13C MRI physics
- Experience with neuroimaging analysis tools such as FSL, FreeSurfer etc.
- Experience with the VistaAI imaging platform
- A demonstrated peer-reviewed publication record
- Well-developed interpersonal skills: ability to listen and communicate, sensitivity to the needs to a team approach to research, and ability to deal with situations with diplomacy.
- Ability to set priorities successfully to coordinate workflow around competing deadlines
