The Massage Therapist is responsible for carrying out professional assessments of the joints and soft tissues of the body and to implement treatment programs that reflect the client’s physical dysfunction and pain. Treatment
includes a broad range of techniques aimed at relieving pain and aid in restoration to normal function of clients with a variety of diagnoses including complex musculoskeletal trauma, amputations, and burns injuries.


Summary of Duties:
1. Complete a case history and assess client to form a clinical impression.
2. Based on the assessment and analysis of the findings, select and implement a treatment program to achieve rehabilitation goals.
3. Document assessment and therapeutic progress in the patient’s medical record within hospital guidelines.
4. Complete assessment and progress reports for clients funded through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Auto Insurance companies.
5. Complete all program specific data entry requirements (e.g. billing information) in an accurate and timely manner.
6. Work independently, and as a member of a team to reach goals of treatment through a multidisciplinary approach.
7. Manage a patient caseload in relation to the referral base including Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Motor Vehicle Collision referrals and Independent Assessments.
8. Liaise with insurance and/or third party payers in an effective and professional manner.
9. Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of employees, patients, Sisters, students, volunteers, physicians and visitors including but not limited to: compliance with the safety standards of the Hospital a
applicable legislation.
10. Conduct work in a safe manner; prevention, identification and reporting of safety issues and problems; taking corrective action, where possible; attendance at safety meetings / training / updates in accordance with the Hos
standards.

 

Qualifications/Skills:
1. Successful completion of a recognized Massage Therapy program.
2. Current registration in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
3. Minimum of two years of experience preferred.
4. Must demonstrate skills in practice, professional judgment and interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, their families and members of the team.
5. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
