Summary of Duties

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides primary nursing care within the Gynecological Procedure Clinic, supporting patients undergoing non‑invasive hysteroscopy, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and related procedures. Core responsibilities include patient assessment, assisting with interventions, patient education, and advocacy throughout the care experience. The RPN practices according to the Patient‑Focused Care model and upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team is essential to ensure safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current Ontario Registration with the College of Nurses
  • Current BCLS certification
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Completion of a post‑graduate Operating Room (O.R.) certificate
  • Current or recent O.R. experience required
  • Physical assessment course required
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Ability to make sound clinical decisions and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of Person‑Centred Care principles
