The Neurodegeneration and Dementia Research Laboratory is led by Dr. Mario Masellis and seeking a full-time Research Associate. The successful candidate will contribute to the evaluation and deployment of image analysis tools for research in Alzheimer’s disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, and related neurodegeneration diseases. They will also be involved in the analysis of additional datasets, including fluid biomarker, genomics, transcriptomics, methylomics and proteomics data. This will be integrated with the neuroimaging data.

 

Under the supervision of Dr. Mario Masellis, the candidate will work on neuroimaging tools developed within the lab and through collaborations. The focus is primarily on Arterial Spin Labeling and Functional MRI data, as well as structural imaging pipelines. They will also be responsible for using both traditional statistics and Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning-learning methods for integration of the different data types.

Summary of Duties:

  • Assess retrospective and prospective data from cognitive neurology research studies.
  • Run, evaluate, and improve upon the in-house software tools by analyzing imaging cases.
  • Work towards writing abstracts and manuscripts for peer-review of image analysis findings.
  • Support the lab through preparation of grant materials.
  • Support collaboration with other laboratories to enable validation and new research projects with external colleagues.
  • Successful completion of a PhD in medical imaging, neuroscience, bioengineering, or equivalent is a requirement.
  • Experience with neuroimaging software tools is required.
  • Experience with R and Python is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing through peer-reviewed publication is highly desirable.
