We currently have a Casual opportunity for a Patient Administrative Associate in the 3 East Nursing Unit at our Bayview Campus.

Hours of Work: Weekdays & Alternating Weekends: Days, Evenings, 8 hrs; As per schedule

Statuary Holidays are required.

Summary of Duties

Responsible for providing administrative, clerical and secretarial support to the nursing units by:

  • Assisting in coordinating nursing unit activities;
  • Coordinating patient admission/discharge/transfer;
  • Liaising with both internal and external customers;
  • Responding to telephone and reception inquiries for both internal and external customers;
  • Assumes other responsibilities and duties as required

Qualifications/Skills

  • Successful completion of secondary school required
  • Post-secondary business/secretarial courses;
  • Successful completion of SHSC PAA training
  • Computer/typing skills, including Windows and MS Word, are required;
  • Keyboarding at 40 wpm or 106 kpm
  • Minimum two years experience in a busy Nursing Unit, preferably in a hospital/health care environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and diplomacy while providing excellent customer service;
  • People person with strong verbal & written communication skills and customer-focused with attention to detail;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals;
  • Excellent organizational skills.
