    • Nurse Practitioner (NP) with emergency department experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and also collaboratively with physicians, interprofessional team members, and other stakeholders
    • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills

The Nurse Practitioner will join the Virtual ED team and report to the Virtual ED Physician Lead. They will assess patients who have been triaged via Health811 to Toronto’s Virtual ED – a partnership between Sunnybrook and the University Health Network (UHN). The NP will use a video-first approach after admin registration to assess patients’ presenting complaint/issue and determine appropriate next steps: follow-up with their regular provider, outpatient investigations or referral, escalation to Virtual ED physician, or transfer to in-person Emergency Department care. Successful candidates will be responsible for supporting and being part of a high-performance team, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality care for patients and families. The development and direction of the program is agile and iterative, and the NP may be asked to assist in receiving referral requests from other physicians/clinics/healthcare providers, assist with quality assurance follow-up for ED patient investigations, see lower acuity ED patients, and/or other responsibilities as needed.
