Summary of Duties:

The Vascular Technologist works in collaboration with the attending Vascular Surgeons while maintaining a high degree of responsibility and independence for individual studies. The Laboratory performs a full array of Non-Invasive Doppler and Duplex studies to evaluate the presence, location and physiological extent of the disease. The diagnostic studies performed by the successful candidate include:

  • Lower extremity arterial assessment.

  • Upper extremity arterial assessment including thoracic outlet.

  • Raynauds cold testing for fingers and toes.

  • Upper and lower extremity venous assessment.

  • Carotid duplex studies.

  • Limited abdominal duplex studies including EVARS and grafts.

     

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS or CRVS) or Graduate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography program from an accredited ultrasound program recognized by Sonography Canada and vascular registry eligible

  • Registration with CMRTO

  • CPR Certification

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team

  • Applicants with only Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) designation must obtain RVT, RVS or CRVS designation within 2 years of hiring. This can be obtained through the laboratory and all applicable fees associated with designation process will be fully compensated.
