Summary of Duties:

  • Assess, develop, implement and evaluate programs for clients with musculoskeletal and related disorders in the hospital programs

  • Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate interventions for transitional care clients

  • Collaborate with the treatment team toward discharge planning

  • Educate clients and their families, hospital staff and the community regarding musculoskeletal/other disorders and preventative health care

  • Direct the daily activities of Occupational Therapy Assistants, students/interns in the department, as required

  • Participate in profession-specific and interprofessional activities in support of the Sunnybrook Occupational Therapy service and the Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto

  • Practice in accordance with COTO standards

Qualifications/Skills

  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario required

  • Membership in CAOT and/or OSOT required

  • Experience preferred in the areas of musculoskeletal dysfunction (in particular treating patients who undergo hip and knee arthroplasty), geriatric rehabilitation, cognitive and psychosocial assessment and treatment skills

  • Commitment to clinical excellence and use of best practices

  • Demonstrated commitment to Patient-Centred Care concept and principles

  • Ability to demonstrate reflective practice
