Manager, Operations
(Permanent Full-time position)
The Sunnybrook Crèche is seeking a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment to fill the role of Manager, Operations. Reporting to the Director, your position will provide:
Program Delivery
- Manage the day-to-day operational delivery of childcare services, ensuring license compliance with all government regulations and standards
- Manage professional staff scheduling, coverage and room assignments
- Monitor program and service delivery to ensure adherence to policies and best practices
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Implement health and safety activities
Program and Policy Development
- Work with RECEs to develop and implement age-appropriate curricula activities and learning experiences that align with developmental milestones
- Develop and implement operational work processes to enable consistent practices
- Monitor programs and activities and operational work processes, making recommendations for change, as necessary
People Management
- Lead recruitment activities for RECEs and Assistant Childhood Educators and supply teachers
- Conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate learning opportunities
- Provide training, coaching and mentoring to ensure staff are engaged and possess the required skills
- Respond to staff requests on a variety of operational and HR issues
Relationship Management
- Communicate with parents and caregivers, to provide updates
- Provide support to the Director in the development and presentation of Board meeting materials; Liaise with the Board of Directors, in the Director’s absence
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to support the needs of children and families
Business administration
- Manage requests for program material needs (e.g. crafts, etc.)
- Provide input into the development of Human Resources policies and practices
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Postsecondary ECE Diploma or equivalent from a recognized college, university or AECEO; CPR and First Aid certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a daycare environment; 3+ years in a management / leadership role with an understanding of the challenges of managing the daily operational and staff components in a childcare centre
- Good knowledge of regulations governing licensed childcare to ensure that regulations are adhered to and implemented in the Crèche
- Advanced ECE teaching skills with age-appropriate program implementation experience
- Familiarity with Human Resources legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, etc.)
- Ability to interpret and communicate HR policies to ensure compliance
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in early childhood education including an understanding of psychological, sociological and developmental theories and principles
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the capacity to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving and issues resolution skills
- Change management skills to create an inclusive and productive work environment
- Knowledge of financial processes to support program requests
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) and other internal software applications, as required

This new position offers a salary range between $55,000 to $68,000 per year, based on experience. In addition to the annual salary, Sunnybrook Crèche also offers comprehensive benefits as part of the total compensation package.
