Job Overview

The Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation at Sunnybrook Research Institute, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking an energetic and efficient Clinical Research Coordinator (MSW, MEd Counselling, or MA/MSc) to work for a clinical trial involving psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy. This individual is hired to provide research study coordination, study support, and preparatory psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic integration/supportive care sessions to study participants at Sunnybrook Research Institute.

The therapist will structure the integration psychotherapy sessions for each treatment visit and follow-up, collect research data, schedule and coordinate research visits, and assist with study documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.

About the Hurvitz Brain Sciences program at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI)

The Hurvitz Brain Sciences program investigates a variety of neurological disorders and disorders of the nervous system across areas of mood, dementia, and stroke. Across all three research platforms, the research program takes a multidisciplinary approach to further our understanding of and develop innovative treatments, drug therapies, and rehabilitation strategies for a variety of brain disorders.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completion of a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related and/or psychology fields; preference will be given to individuals with a specialization in psychology.
  • A master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, or counselling psychology is preferred.
  • Being listed as part of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) is desirable but not mandatory
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Major Depressive Disorder and related disorders
  • One year experience interacting with clients/people living with a psychological disorder
  • Commitment to client-centered care is essential
  • Excellent counselling and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to developing and upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of work.
  • Experience with Good Clinical Practice and/or clinical research trials is preferred
  • Experience in psychedelic-assisted therapy is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • An interest in psychiatric research and a passion for helping those suffering from clinical depression

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Contribute to the execution of study protocols with the ability to adhere to Good Clinical Practice guidelines
  • Provide hands-on clinical research support on behalf of investigators for neuromodulation research and treatments (e.g., psychedelic-assisted therapy)
  • Demonstrated skills and aptitudes regarding psychiatry and psychotherapy
  • Liaise with investigators and study staff to ensure consistency and quality of all study procedures
  • Contribute towards educational material and scientific dissemination of research results
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of this study which involved participant scheduling and data collection through psychological scales
  • Establish a good rapport with study participants, facilitating a positive environment
  • Working independently as well as collaboratively with the team members in the provision of study participant care
