Maintenance Mechanic - Plant Operations & Maintenance

Summary of Duties

• Carry out repairs to pumps, motors, fans, and a variety of other mechanical equipment throughout the Hospital as assigned.
• Carry out fire protection system preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Repair patient beds and wheelchairs as required. 
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on mechanical and electronic devices throughout the Hospital as assigned.
• Prepare and layout own material.
• Demonstrated good ability to solve problems and work on own initiative.
• Inspect, repair, replace and adjust components for entrance and exit doors including closers, electric strikes, magnetic hold opens, keys and locksets.
• Carry out other mechanic duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

• Minimum Secondary School completion plus completion of Trade and Apprenticeship program required
• Must have current valid Province of Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Millwright
• Current provincial certification in welding is preferred
• Recent related experience as a mechanic essential, ideally in a hospital/healthcare setting
• Experience & training by a recognized locksmithing facility preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to read mechanical blueprints and a basic understanding of electrical principles required.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to perform welding and electrical repairs required.
• Maintenance experience essential
• Demonstrated customer service focus and proven verbal and written communication
