We are seeking a Legal Paraprofessional (Law Clerk or Paralegal) to join our Legal Services – Research team. This role is central to executing fast-track clinical trial agreements, helping accelerate study start-up while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

About the Role

You will be part of a team of four legal professionals supporting clinical research, reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel (Research).

Your primary focus will be fast-track clinical trials—agreements that rely on pre-approved templates or existing master agreements and meet defined criteria for streamlined execution. You will also support broader clinical trial work as capacity allows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and process fast-track clinical trial agreements using standard templates and master agreements
  • Coordinate efficient agreement execution with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Ensure agreements meet Sunnybrook fast-track criteria and quality standards
  • Support Sunnybrook’s strategic initiative through template use, workflow improvements, and cycle time reduction, including liaising with Sunnybrook’s Centre for Clinical Trial Support
  • Engage with industry sponsors and CROs to encourage use of master agreements
  • Assist with non-fast-track clinical trial agreements as workload permits
  • Maintain accurate records and track agreement status and metrics

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in law clerk, paralegal studies, or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in clinical research contracting or legal document management
  • Familiarity with clinical trial agreements or legal contracting processes is an asset

What You Bring

  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a high volume of agreements efficiently
  • Process-oriented mindset focused on speed and consistency
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Comfort working in a structured, template-driven environment

Why Join Sunnybrook

  • Contribute directly to accelerating access to innovative clinical trials
  • Be part of a high-impact institutional initiative
  • Work with a collaborative, mission-driven team
  • Develop specialized expertise in clinical trial contracting
