Position Overview

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Events, the Manager, Community Fundraising, will lead the development and growth of the community events $2M+ portfolio by leveraging best-in-class practices, new technologies and expertise to ensure a strong and sustainable community events pipeline. The Manager, Community Fundraising, will be responsible for the overall health of the community fundraising portfolio by analyzing and reporting on metrics, as well providing day-to-day guidance, support and fundraising expertise to community organizers, managing and delegating the Community Fundraising portfolio with a personal focus on tier one events. The incumbent will act as the Foundation expert on peer-to-peer fundraising and represent community fundraising interests in the annual strategic planning process.  This role may be required to lead or support a range of Sunnybrook events as required.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Act as a peer-to-peer fundraising expert within Sunnybrook Foundation
  • Represent community fundraising interest in strategic planning by offering feedback and ideas for continuous improvement
  • Develop and lead the delivery of the Community Fundraiser experience
  • Lead the planning and execution of the community events portfolio including managing peer-to-peer fundraising, overseeing the administration of program requirements
  • Oversee the peer-to-peer fundraising platform, including regular maintenance 
  • Manage and build meaningful relationships with community fundraising organizers by providing event expertise to support their efforts in a manner that is consistent with Foundation guidelines
  • Lead the implementation, through cross functional collaboration, of a strategy to identify, manage and approach new event prospects and community engagement opportunities
  • Work closely with volunteer committees, ensuring that the skill, capabilities and strengths of volunteers and volunteer leaders are maximized and recognized as appropriate within Foundation guidelines
  • Where assigned, lead or support the planning and execution of assigned partnership events
  • Serve as the Sunnybrook Foundation representative at external events, including meetings, luncheons, and recognition activities as appropriate and required
  • Provide strong technical expertise; mentor and provide guidance to staff reporting indirectly or directly on projects
  • Manage the execution of project plans including scope, budgets, schedules and related activities to complete project deliverables as assigned
  • Collaborating and coordinating closely with colleagues, solicit, manage and effectively activate sponsorships
  • Adhere to Foundation guidelines, proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes
  • Reporting to or regular check-ins with event leads

 

Qualifications and Competencies

 

  • Minimum college and/or university degree in Event Management, Fundraising Management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 – 8 years of experience in a non-profit environment is considered an asset
  • Ability to manage and oversee complex events and projects
  • Ability to lead peers and project manage deliverables across multiple functions and teams
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle competing deadlines and changes to project scope
  • Effectively and promptly communicates with donors, event participants, volunteers and partners
  • Experience working with volunteer committees, understanding the importance of effective volunteer relations and communication
  • Embrace planning, attention to detail and managing multiple priorities
  • Strong judgment skills with experience identifying and anticipating issues
  • Ability to coordinate and work in teams or independently with minimal administrative support
  • Advanced level of knowledge producing managing peer-to-peer fundraising events
  • Project management experience 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills: customer service oriented
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Luminate TeamRaiser and Blackbaud platforms is considered a strong asset 
  • Experience managing junior team members is considered an asset

 

Total Rewards Package

 

The hiring range for this position is $98,000-$108,000. The salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s years of experience, qualifications and competencies that are relevant to this position.

 

In addition to salary, our competitive compensation package also includes, comprehensive health and dental benefits, HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), hybrid work environment with a minimum of two (2) days in office, 2 float days each fiscal year and additional Sunny Days (long weekend closures in advance of summer long weekends and Christmas Eve).
