Summary of Duties
Responsible for the daily operational checks, change and replacement of anaesthetic life support systems, monitoring equipment and perfusion equipment located in the OR and all satellite areas supported by the Anesthesia Department and the Perfusion Team. Responsible for: the testing, disassembling and cleaning of various respiratory therapy and perfusion equipment; and for the delivery/ pick up of malfunctioning/repaired anaesthesia and perfusion electronic equipment to/from Biomedical Engineering. Responds to calls for equipment replacement and basic trouble shooting problems. Monitors stock levels of anaesthetic/perfusion equipment/supplies in the OR, MDRC and all areas containing equipment used by the anaesthesia/perfusion team and supported by Operating Room and Related Services. Liaises with company representatives, external and internal customers to maintain sufficient supplies and to ensure optimal working order of equipment. Creates and organizes inservices and educational materials for anaesthesia/perfusion equipment and supplies. Ensures adherence to aseptic techniques and attire standards.
Qualifications/Skills
- Previous experience with anesthesia-related equipment preferred
- Ability to read and write English
- Able to maintain accurate documentation/logs of work details
- 1 year Respiratory Therapist Assistant or related experience preferred.
- 2 years of related health care experience preferably in a OR setting
- Excellent communication and teaching skills
- Advanced problem solving skills and ability to prioritize
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to handle various tasks with in limited time-frame
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willing to participate in hands-on education to upgrade skill set as required
