The Department of Anatomic Pathology at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for a Research Project Manager (RPM).

 

Description of Position:

 

The central role of the RPM will be to facilitate the research work of pathologists in the department. RPM will work collaboratively with pathologists toward writing of grant proposals, manuscripts, research protocols, interinstitutional transfer agreements and ethics board applications. Additional activities may include performing literature reviews and providing basic project statistical support.  RPM will supervise and may be occasionally required to perform standard molecular laboratory assays in support of pathologists’ research projects. RPM will also supervise and support other laboratory staff as required. RPM will be involved in education and supervision of medical trainees in research activities, if suitable opportunities arise.

 

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • The applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Training in molecular medical research, at least Masters Degree level is required. PhD and/or post doctoral experience are an asset.
  • The applicant must have excellent scientific writing skills in English and experience with preparing manuscripts, grant applications and ethics board application.
  • Proficiency with a citation manager and Microsoft Office, Excel, Access and PowerPoint is required.
  • Practical experience with a variety of standard molecular laboratory assays (PCR, NGS, CGH, tissue culture management) and histology techniques is an asset.
  • History of collaboration with medical doctors and medical trainees would be viewed favorably.
  • Familiarity with biostatistics and proficiency with statistical software are an asset.

 

Compensation:

 

Compensation for this position is commensurate with skills and experience. The position is renewable annually based on review of performance.
