Summary of Duties:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to lead an independent research project focused on gene therapy development within the field of regenerative neuroscience. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experimental studies, supervising trainees, preparing manuscripts for publication, contributing to grant writing, and actively participating in internal lab meetings, institutional seminars, and external collaborations.
This role requires extensive experience with animal models, including husbandry, surgical procedures, and neuropathological assessments. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in intracranial delivery of adeno-associated viruses (AAVs), histological and molecular analyses of brain and spinal cord tissue, and standard molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, PCR, and western blotting. Familiarity with animal behavioral assays and handling protocols is essential. Experience with human organoid models and knowledge of omics platforms and bioinformatics tools are considered strong assets but are not mandatory.
Requirements:
- PhD in neuroscience, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years postdoctoral research experience in regenerative neuroscience.
- Evidence of scholarly publications in the field.
- Proven expertise in animal model systems, including intracranial AAV injections and neuropathological analysis.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and animal behavioral assays.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding of research ethics and regulatory compliance, particularly regarding Animal Use Protocols (AUPs).
