Summary of Duties:
This Senior Cytology MLT position must be able to analyze complex cytological technical issues in a systematic and comprehensive manner. Will have experience screening complex Fine Needle Aspiration, non-gynecological cancer cases and participate in rapid on site assessment of patient material in clinic. In addition will screen FISH microscopic and digital preparations. Must be able to communicate clearly - verbally and in writing. Works collaboratively with medical leadership, management, and peers, to improve services and quality. Able to evaluate and implement technological enhancements using LEAN principles/process improvement tools, and quality system management.
Qualifications/Skills:
- CMLTO registration as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, Cytology license required
- Minimum 3 years comprehensive experience in Cytology required in a hospital setting screening complex cases
- Experience with rapid on site assessment and FISH an asset
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to trouble-shoot and optimize testing required
- Comprehensive knowledge of ACD requirements
- Working knowledge of LEAN principles and tools for process improvement
- Able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams as well as independently
- Effective professional communication with all levels of staff - both verbally and written
- Experience with information systems – CoPath, Vantage, Synapse Pathology
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office
