Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated ETL Developer to join our Decision Support and Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions that enable evidence-based decision-making across the hospital. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with an understanding of healthcare data to transform complex information into actionable insights that improve patient care, operational efficiency, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain efficient and reliable ETL processes to support the enterprise data warehouse and BI reporting needs.
• Investigate and profile new data sources, define data specifications, and collaborate with data owners to support data acquisition.
• Create and maintain database structures, stored procedures, indexes, and business rules using advanced T-SQL.
• Build and maintain data models, data maps, and data quality frameworks; conduct testing and validation to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Work closely with Decision Support analysts and data scientists to integrate analytical models and metrics into operational and strategic dashboards.
• Develop and automate recurring reports and dashboards for clinical, operational, and administrative stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data quality or integration issues in collaboration with IT and business partners.
• Support the modernization of the hospital’s data and analytics infrastructure, including evaluation of cloud and advanced analytics technologies.
• Contribute to innovation by supporting initiatives in predictive modeling, machine learning, and data-driven clinical improvement.
Qualifications/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Health Informatics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data integration or BI development, preferably in a healthcare environment.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL design patterns, and relational database concepts.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL (T-SQL or PL/SQL) and solid experience with ETL tools and frameworks such as SSIS, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), or Azure Data Factory. Experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and familiarity with SharePoint an asset.
• Knowledge of healthcare administrative data (e.g., DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, CCRS, NRS) and related methodologies preferred.
• Experience with scripting or statistical programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
