Position Summary
The division of spine surgery is seeking a Medical Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and secretarial support focusing on surgical scheduling and patient coordination.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling of outpatient and/or inpatient procedures.
- Scheduling pre-assessment appointments.
- Preparation of patient charts and filing as required.
- Contacting patients with appointment times and arrival instructions.
- Answering telephones and directing patient inquiries to the appropriate individual.
- Managing faxing and general office correspondence.
- Performing other secretarial or receptionist duties as assigned by the surgeon or Office Manager.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Office Administration program/diploma or equivalent at the community college level.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related practical experience.
- Previous experience managing O.R. bookings and scheduling.
- Proficiency in written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize tasks, prioritize effectively, and multi-task.
- Proficiency in exercising tact and discretion when dealing with confidential issues.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and act independently using sound judgment.
- Ability to recognize when direction is needed when there are competing demands.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Word (Excel preferred).
