The Division of Nephrology is seeking a highly motivated, experienced clinical research professional to join our research program as a Research Assistant II. The successful candidate will be based on-site and work closely with Principal Investigators within the Division of Nephrology and interdisciplinary teams to support research activities within the Nephrology research portfolio.
Summary of Duties:
- Function as part of an interdisciplinary, patient-focused team of professionals to ensure smooth and efficient facilitation of clinical trial activities
- Recruit participants (e.g., identify potential participants, obtain informed consent, collect demographic and clinical data)
- Execute some or all aspects of sample collection (e.g., perform venipuncture, process as per laboratory manual, transport to local laboratories as per SOPs)
- Manage participant and specimen databases and perform data entry from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access
- Maintain all regulatory files and execute study-related administrative tasks such as filing of study documents, bookings and requests, administrative binders, etc.
- Coordinate patient follow-up visit schedules as per study protocol and execution of study visits
- Liaise with sponsors as required
- Prepare for monitoring visits, audits and inspections
- Applies straightforward technical knowledge and skills to perform well-defined, routine and/or repetitive tasks
Qualifications required
- Bachelor’s degree in health-related field
- Minimum 3 years of clinical research or relevant experience in an academic hospital setting
- Demonstrated working knowledge of research regulations and guidelines (ICH/GCP, Health Canada, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, etc.)
- Advanced proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe)
- Experience with Electronic Data Capture systems an asset
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A “can do” attitude: Flexibility to work in a complex environment with ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently to take lead on assigned projects and as part of a team
