We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Web Specialist in the Digital and Visual Communications department at our Bayview Campus.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is looking for web-savvy individual to join our Strategic Communications team. Reporting to the Manager, Digital & Visual Communications, the Web Specialist will use their high-level HTML, CSS and digital design skills to develop beautiful websites and visuals for web and social media projects.

 

Summary of Duties:

  • Create new webpages leveraging existing CSS while adhering to brand standards, style guidelines, approved templates and accessibility regulations (WCAG, AODA) Manage and maintain websites and webpages using HTML, CSS and other web programming languages.
  • Execute copy, image and other content updates through CMS and HTML as needed (sometimes urgently)
  • Meet with members of the Sunnybrook community (including programs, departments and units) to assess and strategically support their web design and digital communications needs
  • Offer creative, innovative and modern web solutions through existing platforms, including WordPress and custom CMS
  • Comfortability adapting to legacy and modern CMS/platforms
  • Work collaboratively with web developer, communications advisors and specialists, graphic designers, photographers and videographers
  • Think creatively and provide strategic, resourceful problem solving
  • Create wire frames, mock-ups, previews and quotes as needed
  • Test, track and evaluate site performance and adjust as needed
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Resize and crop images, correct colours, and ensure images are correctly formatted and optimized for mobile and desktop web browsers
  • Ensure materials for posting comply with brand standards and guidelines, copyediting and web editing as needed
  • Manage digital assets such as web banner ads, digital screen slides and social media graphics
  • Pitch and develop creative, visually compelling and engaging content that tells Sunnybrook’s story to a variety of digital and social media audiences

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing and maintaining branded web pages for public-facing websites
  • Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS
  • Strong understanding and ability to use Regular Expression (RegEx)
  • Strong understanding of AODA compliance and practices (WCAG)
  • Ability to remediate PDFs to be AODA compliant
  • Familiarity with Server-side programming languages such as ASP, PHP and JavaScript (Node.js)
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with Google Analytics and Tag Manager
  • Familiar with Apache/Windows web servers and web hosting environments
  • Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Canva.
  • Experience with creating forms in FormStack
  • Experience with email marketing tools, such as MailChimp and envoke
  • Experience or familiarity with AppSpace, Brightsign and digital signage setup
  • Demonstrated experience translating creative briefs into completed projects
  • Ability to think quickly and provide out-of-the-box solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-activity work environment
  • Ability to connect livestreams to YouTube and embed on the Sunnybrook website
  • Work within templated set up
  • Working knowledge of PHIPA and PIPEDA Acts
  • Working knowledge of CAN-SPAM and CASL legislation.
