Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI), part of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), is a leader in breast cancer imaging research in Ontario. Our team is dedicated to translating innovative imaging technologies into clinical practice through high-impact clinical trials.
We are currently seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to support the Tomosynthesis Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (TMIST) — the first randomized trial worldwide comparing tomosynthesis and conventional digital mammography for breast cancer screening. This landmark study aims to improve breast cancer screening.
Working closely with the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator, the successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating participant activities, supporting data collection, and ensuring high-quality study conduct. This position also provides opportunities to contribute to other ongoing research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule participant follow-up appointments in collaboration with hospital and clinic teams
- Communicate effectively with study participants to guide them through study procedures and timelines
- Maintain accurate and organized records of participant interactions and study activities
- Respond to participant inquiries with professionalism and clarity
- Collect, manage, and enter study data, including completion of case report forms (CRFs) and preparation of study reports
- Report study progress, track timelines, and escalate or troubleshoot issues as needed
- Provide administrative support and support additional research activities/projects as required
Professional Responsibilities
- Adhere to all SHSC and SRI policies, procedures, and safety standards, including ICH-GCP guidelines
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, staff, and institutional information
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and audit requirements
- Represent the program professionally and contribute to a positive experience for participants and staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or a related field (required)
- Minimum 2 year of research experience or equivalent training (preferred)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and participant-facing skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with electronic medical/research databases
- Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in imaging and oncology (preferred)
- Familiarity with ICH-GCP guidelines and clinical research regulations
- Ability to manage competing priorities and perform under pressure with sound judgment
- Experience in a healthcare or research setting is an asset
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Flexibility required based on participant scheduling
