Research Assistant (SRI) - Evaluative Clinical Sciences - Temporary Full-Time 2026-18512

Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Research spans three Toronto-based campuses, eight programs and three scientific platforms. Each year, we conduct about $100 million in research across 500,000 square feet, including in the world’s first Centre for Research in Image-Guided Therapeutics.

Dr Luis da Luz is seeking a Research Assistant to support their trauma and transfusion medicine research to August 27, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the recruitment of study participants (e.g. identifies and screens potential subjects, obtain informed consent, conduct pre-testing and administer questionnaires or other data collection tools);
• assist in planning, implementation and coordination of all aspects of data collection and source documentation, as per SRI policy and ICH/GCP guidelines;
• conduct telephone and/or clinical recruitment interviews to collect data using established criteria;
• coordinate patient visit schedules as per study protocol;
• assist in study visits (e.g. assessment, adverse events, monitoring safety, medication, questionnaires, sample collection, including processing and shipment of samples according to clinical protocol);
• plan, design and organize scoring procedures and computer databases for ongoing and new research studies;
• may perform computer statistical analyses and generate response curves, status reports;
• coordinating research activities in collaborating hospitals; and
• other administrative duties associated with the grant.

Summary of Duties:

• Bachelor’s degree in health-related field or equivalent
• Two (2) years clinical research experience
• Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications required
• Experience and expertise in recruiting patients to clinical trials, and obtaining informed consent
• Proven ability to work independently, and as part of a clinical research team
• Excellent communications/interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of research regulations and guidelines, such as ICH/GCP guidelines, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki and FDA CFR and Health Canada TPD, as required
• Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures, as required

Work schedule: Please note that this is an on-site position, with the flexibility to work remotely up to 1 day per week, depending on study activities, recruitment coverage, and operational requirements. Flexible working hours are required, such that some days will require working hours to be shifted to start and finish later to accommodate patient recruitment for studies. On these days, the employee will complete a shifted schedule (i.e., start and finish later) rather than working a full daytime shift followed by evening coverage.
