Summary of Duties

The PSP reflects the Philosophy of person and family centred Care as well as the Mission, vision and Values of both Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the palliative care unit.

The PSP participates in the caring of patients by providing a variety of support services to the team and patients. The PSP works closely with the interprofessional team and promotes and maintains good public relations with patients, families, visitors and Hospital staff.

 

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum Grade 11 or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario Ministry of Education
  • Applicants who have a PSW certificate or completed the Sunnybrook PSP course will be given priority
  • Recent PSP experience required, SBHC experience preferred
  • Two years of related health care experience
  • Previous experience in a Palliative Care setting preferred
  • Recent experience with geriatric population
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Must possess an Infection Control Core Competency Certificate
  • Ability to work well as part of a interporfessional team
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to handle various tasks within a limited time frame
  • Liaises with patients and visitors on a regular basis demonstrating excellent customer service
