Summary Of Duties:

Location: Bayview/ Holland Campus

This is a casual part-time position with variable hours per week, and requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and most weekends. The position rotates between the gifts shops located at the Bayview and Holland sites.

Summary of Duties:

  • Meet or exceed sales goals by providing exceptional service to all customers, suppliers, vendors, volunteers, and hospital staff
  • Create and maintain displays to drive sales and provide a visually attractive shopping experience
  • Receive, price, and merchandise retail goods in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prepare on-line and telephone orders for delivery
  • Administrative duties including answering email, telephone inquiries, balancing daily paperwork, and maintaining inventories
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to gift shop volunteers
  • Strive for excellence in all areas of retail operations
  • Contribute to the success of a large and vibrant retail operation by playing a key role in raising funds for patient comfort & care through the operation of a successful hospital gift shop
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

 

 

Qualifications / Skills:

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a retail environment
  • Demonstrated superior retail sales and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience and interest in retail merchandising
  • Interest in and awareness of fashion and décor trends
  • Ability to accurately handle cash and card transactions, and balance the shift/day
  • Ability to deal with multiple and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work as team member in a busy environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office and POS systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Previous experience working with volunteers an asset
  • Previous experience with on-line retail is an asset
  • Ability to work at two locations; Bayview & Lawrence and Yonge & Wellesley
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends
  • Ability to work standing full days and lift boxes, climb ladders
