Summary of Duties
The Permanent Team Leader in ENT and Dentistry services in the Operating Room assists in the provision of clinical patient care in concert with the mission, philosophy, values and objectives of the Organization and related programs. The Permanent Team Leader works in collaboration with Patient Care Manager II and APN to identify and resolve clinical patient care issues. The Permanent Team Leader facilitates the development of staff clinical knowledge, skills and teamwork needed to function efficiently and effectively in their assigned roles. The Permanent Team Leader is involved in identifying and managing specific requirements of the surgical specialty to ensure a positive perioperative experience for the patient. The Permanent Team Leader should demonstrate professionalism, dedication and commitment in his/her standards of nursing practice.
Current assignment is located at the Bayview site.
Qualifications/Skills
- Primary responsibility to ENT & Dentistry Surgery
- Current Ontario Registration
- Current B.C.L.S. Certificate
- Completions of post-graduate O.R. course required
- BScN degree or equivalent required
- Significant recent related O.R. experience in ENT & Dentistry Surgery required
- Charge Nurse or Team Leader experience strongly preferred
- CPN (C) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated above average leadership, conflict resolution and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize well, communicates effectively at all levels, function in a stressful environment, work with minimal direction, teach other staff members, students, etc.
- Able to accommodate changing department needs in relations to working hours.
- Models professional behaviour
- Pursues professional leadership and development
- Demonstrated ability to exercise critical thinking
