Summary of Duties

Reporting to the Director of DAN Women and Babies, the PCM II position will be responsible

for but not limited to leadership for the High Risk Obstetrics Unit, Breast Feeding Clinic,

High Risk Obstetrics Clinics, and Urogynaecology Unit.

In collaboration with the Women and Babies team. The PCM II is responsible for leading the team

towards a common vision, excellence in patient care, and facilitating the achievement of

operational and patient focused care objectives. The role includes creating a supportive

environment for patients and staff, facilitating staff and interprofessional team development,

managing budgets, human and material resources, within a quality management framework.

 

Qualifications/Skills

 

  • Recognized Master’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2-5 years recent leadership level experience required
  • Minimum 5 years recent Obstetrical nursing related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of obstetric standards and best practices required
  • Previous management experience complex obstetrical environment preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and quality improvement initiatives
  • Self motivated
  • Proven knowledge and skills with daily patient flow activities
  • Expertise in the planning and management of large improvement projects is an asset.
  • Proven organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and demonstrates composure under pressure/ stressful
  • conditions and to meet multiple and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-focused care and proven interpersonal skills
  • A coaching and empowering style of management
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in

assisting with the delivery of care to patients

  • Has knowledge of applicable legislation affecting human resources (i.e. Human Rights,
  • Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Demonstrated success in establishing, leading and maintaining positive change and
  • continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, set and accomplish goals and objectives in a complex fast paced team environment.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, team building, conflict resolution and decision–making skills
  • Working knowledge of computers (i.e. MS Word, Outlook, etc)
  • Proficiency in healthcare information systems and software
  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
