Summary of Duties

  • The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for providing technical, scientific, educational and supportive service to both internal and external users in collaboration with the Quality Coordinator, management, and other senior technologists;
  • The Quality Assurance Officer will also be responsible for the following: 
    • Contributing to departmental processes in keeping with Quality Systems Essentials;
    •  Networking with internal/external organizations;
    • generating daily, weekly and monthly reports as required;
    • ensuring effective communication is maintained with all levels of medical, technical staff and management through evaluating and refining communication strategy; instructing and supporting staff to enhance safe practice and quality improvement in the lab;
    • Providing leadership through mentorship and sharing of expertise; and co-ordinating staff, students and residents in training in conjunction with medical/scientific staff.
    • occasionally required to do bench work where needed or may be assigned senior technologist technical oversight

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Current membership with CMLTO required
  • Significant, recent related years recent Biochemistry experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills essential
  • Advanced knowledge in quality systems essential
  • Advanced knowledge of continuous quality improvement and management techniques are required
  • Current knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Advanced knowledge in Health and Safety standards, WHMIS and Infection Control practices
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving and decision making practices
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Computer skills which include database management experience is essential
  • Ability to work effectively in a strong team environment
