The Education portfolio at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Manager, Student Services.  The Manager is responsible for providing integrated services and support for all learners.   Their primary goal is to ensure seamless transitions for all students at Sunnybrook and to foster an exceptional student experience. As an key leader of the Education team, the Manager oversees the strategic direction and sets the priorities and activities of Student Services.  Additionally, they will provide operational oversight and office management for Student Services, the Manager leads a cross-functional team and oversees the management of human resources activities.     

 

Specific Responsibilities include:: 

  • Leads the Student Services team and undertakes strategic and operational responsibility for learner satisfaction with service delivery and enhancing the trainee experiences. 
  • Directs and leads all human resource and operation aspects of the portfolio, ensuring the  effective deployment and use of human, financial and material resources.
  • Establishes policy, protocols and procedures to ensure high quality and effective delivery of services and also manages the tracking and reporting of Student Services activities. 
  • Leads the planning and preparation of the annual Operations Plan for student services (including payroll and operational budget) and space. Monitors and identifies program needs, develops and liaises with the VP of Education for fiscal support.
  • Creates and forecasts annual budget for multiple cost centers (Medical Education, Student Servicers, etc.) and manages spending for a portfolio that involves over 5000 students. 
  • Directs all registration activities. The manager has overall responsibility for ensuring that all students and trainees on placement/rotation at Sunnybrook Health Science have necessary support and all resources required to begin their educational learning/clinical duties. 
  • Liaise with various committees and workings to collaborate and identify synergies and develop partnership with internal and external stakeholders (TAHSNe working groups, and Student Coordinator Network) Co-Chair, SEAC Student Experience and Culture strategic priority: Direct, plan and conduct a committee of staff and student, focusing to enhance learner experiences and wellbeing at Sunnybrook.
  • Executive member of the Sunnybrook Education Advisory Committee (SEAC): contributes and collaborates with other Educational Leaders to ensure Educational goals and objective are developed and executed in alignment with the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of Sunnybrook.

 

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Undergraduate degree in a business or health administration.
  • Five (5) years of proven experiences in a healthcare management role, with a track record of leading successful teams and projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working within a large academic hospital and its partners (Universities/schools, PARO, TAHSNe, CPSO, etc.)  
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills and accomplished effective relationships throughout the organization and externally.  
  • Demonstrated effective critical thinking and strong problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Demonstrated service-focused, who treats members of the community with respect, values their time, strives for personal best, and collaborates to improve service experiences for all.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, particularly Excel and Access
  • Prior work experience with learner databases (HSPnet, POWER, NirvSystem, MedSIS, etc.)
