Summary of Duties

The MLT candidate will provide practical and subject matter expertise of routine and special

techniques in a clinical Histotechnology laboratory. Works with medical staff, management, peers,

and internal and external users to ensure quality patient care services are maintained. Seeks

opportunities to improve services throughout the quality management cycle by identifying,

evaluating and implementing technological enhancements and conducting workflow analysis using

LEAN principles. Participation at internal and external meetings and committee work is required.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • CMLTO registration as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist required
  • Minimum 3 years Histology working experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Experience with Immunohistochemistry, Special stains, Digital Pathology and hospital experience an asset
  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the team, both internal or external to the department, with a positive attitude
  • Required to work in a dynamic, busy environment with excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrates sound theoretical and practical knowledge of Histotechnology with effective trouble-shooting skills
  • Experience with automated and manual special stains preferred
  • Application of LEAN principles and quality assurance in a clinical laboratory
  • Demonstrates effective communication, both written and oral
  • Experience with CoPath LIS an asset
