Description:
A full-time research MRI technologist is required to support MRI scientific investigations within the Physical Sciences Platform of Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC). The MRI activities will primarily be undertaken at the newly constructed Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN) 7 T MRI facility located within E-Wing of the SHSC campus, which houses a state-of-the-art Siemens Magnetom Terra.X system. Dependent on the load of 7 T MRI studies, secondary activities will involve supporting research across multiple 3T MRI systems primarily within S-Wing of the SHSC campus (Siemens Magnetom Prisma and mMR, GE Healthcare Signa Premier).

 

Summary of Duties:

  • Running standard as well as research MRI protocols on volunteers (healthy individuals and patients)
  • Scheduling of research MRI studies
  • Ongoing development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, including training of research personnel
  • Archiving and some analysis of research results 
  • Providing expertise in MRI protocol development
  • Communication with research scientists, trainees, volunteers, and other individuals associated with specific research MRI studies
  • Occasional clinical consultation on routine patient MRI procedures

 

Qualifications:

Requirements for this position include:

· CAMRT certification (or equivalent) as an MRI technologist. 

· Registered with the CMRITO.

· Several years of clinical or research MRI experience.

· Prior exposure to MRI research projects.

· Familiarity with more than one MRI vendor platform is preferable.

· “Hands-on” experience with daily aspects of MRI system usage including clinical applications, troubleshooting, quality assurance, basic data analysis and archiving.

· Computing knowledge in a PC or UNIX environment.
