Summary of Duties

We currently have a regular 0.8FTE vacancy for a Pharmacy technician at the Holland Centre Pharmacy and Preadmission Clinic.  Sunnybrook’s Holland Centre campus is located downtown, a minute walk from Wellesley TTC station.

The pharmacy technician duties can be broadly divided into the following areas: Best Possible Medication History taking in Holland Preadmission Clinic, drug distribution, IV admixture and order entry. Responsibilities include tasks such as Best Possible Medication History taking, medication order pick-up, delivery of medication to ADUs, dispensing medication, computer order entry, prepackaging, and performing the necessary functions on computers while meeting pharmacy standards for accuracy and speed; completing sterile product preparation for IV admixture, utilizing aseptic technique while being able to complete the necessary mathematical calculations and translating these calculations to the proper equipment to ensure accurate measurement in the preparation of products, performing controlled drug audits, inventory management, ordering and receiving of drugs and supplies.

 

Qualifications/Skills

 

  • Current holder of a Sunnybrook certificate in IV Aseptic Technique or the ability to become certified within 3 months
  • Current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, a graduate of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education program leading to licensure as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer service skills and empathetic manner
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Detail-oriented and reliable
